More About Laurell:
She began her professional career as a successful recording artist and live performer so, the musical and comedic elements she brings to her lectures and programs make them fun.  She is known to sing a song or two with a positive message during her presentations.  Since 2013, she is a radio show host on Awakening Together and ACIM Gather Radio. 

As a recording artist, Laurell had #1 dance hit and certified gold record in Canada with the song For Your Love. She’s appeared on TV networks MuchMusic and MusiquePlus and performed in an episode of the popular HBO Series, The Sopranos.  Billboard Magazine called Laurell an “ethereal poet” with a “formidable talent for writing contagious pop hooks”.  Her funny YouTube Video for the song,  “We’re All Still Here”, received over 25,000 views in three days.  Laurell’s producers and collaborators include Grammy winning producer Barry Goldstein and Grammy nominated producer Adrian Harpham. 

For over ten years, Laurell managed and performed in a band that provided live music for high profile events including The NASCAR Awards and The Football Hall of Fame.  She’s had the honor of sharing the bill with legendary performers Paul Simon, Ray Charles, The Pointer Sisters, Frankie Valli and Martha Reeves.

THE STORY OF BODY UP:
How I Lost 20 Pounds In Just 7 Weeks and Decided That I Had to Teach Everyone How to Do It

I was 50 years old and I had 50 pounds to lose.  

People used to tell me: “Eat less and move more”.  But, it didn’t matter if I ate 750 calories or 1500, or whether I ate a meal replacement shake or celery for dinner. I still couldn’t lose weight.   I even tried being vegan and gained eight pounds, to the horror of my anti-meat eating friends.  

I did high intensity aerobic workouts once or twice a day, and I’m not talking “Sweatin to the Oldies” here.  I’m talking P-90X Kempo in the morning followed by Plyometrics or Hip Hop Abs in the afternoon.  And as much as I adore Tony Horton (P90-X), and Shawn T (Hip-Hop Abs), and as fun as it was, I was just not losing weight.  

After five years of starving and exhausting myself,  I was seriously confused.  I asked myself frustrating questions.  Why wasn’t this working for me?   Maybe I’m just not trying hard enough? 

When I asked people for advice, they would uncomfortably bite their lips and say, “Yeah, well, your metabolism is slowing down. This is what happens when you get older”, as if that was at all helpful. Cyclically, I would give up. Then I would try again. And I kept gaining weight.  I knew in my bones that there had to be a better way but, I just hadn’t found it yet.  

In November 2016,  I started digging through research on metabolism.  I came across  groundbreaking weight loss science from doctors, researchers and biohackers who are getting amazing fast and long-term weight loss results with their patients and clients. These doctors/authors include Dr. Jason Fung (The Obesity Code), Dr. Mark Hyman (Eat Fat, Get Thin), Dr. Joseph Mercola (Fat for Fuel), Dr. David Ludwig (Always Hungry), and Dave Asprey (The Bulletproof Diet).   A light bulb went on in my head.  I compiled the best of this information,  tried it, and it actually worked.  I lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks, which is nothing short of miraculous since I wasn’t able to shed a pound previously.  Then I lost another 9 pounds in 5 1/2 weeks.   I was kind of shocked … and over-the-moon happy! 

I began experimenting on myself, deliberately gaining and losing the same ten or fifteen pounds over and over to prove that what I was doing really worked. (I do NOT recommend that anyone do this.  Personally, with the ethical code I have, I absolutely had to make sure what I was doing worked and see how I could tweak the techniques to make them work the best.).  

When I was certain these techniques work to kickstart metabolism and to lose weight in a healthy way, I knew then, without a doubt, that I had to show everyone how to do this for themselves. So, I founded Body Up Coaching, combing all my previous 20 years of experience as a personal development coach with these cutting edge weight loss techniques to form a powerful proven weight loss coaching system,  The Weight Loss Revolution Program.
